Sustainability… so, so important. Our team is committed to doing our part in not only practices of sustainability but regenerative practices as well. The intention here is to be mindful of our carbon footprint and reduce it as much as possible. The concept of sustainability is composed of more than just the environment, and we choose to take a 360 look at ourselves. It is important for us to really dive in and basically just do our very best, right?
Ultimately we do this in honour of contributing to being part of the solution and a better tomorrow for all of humanity. In doing our part in minimizing consumerism, reducing waste and supporting the local economy, we choose to respect Mother Nature and coexisting in harmony with her. By our example, we hope to inspire participation from our guests to do the same.
This is how we do it….

On-property composting of all organic items from kitchen
Eco Friendly To Go Packs! Utensils, food containers, metal straws, etc. for all guests to use, in order to minimize single use plastic and purchases while visiting
Buying food from local organic farmers and the local bulk health food store
Efficient waste management systems, such as Eco Bricks and recycling
Minimal packaged foods as best we can by using our own glass containers and shopping bulk
We use (and provide you with) reusable bags for shopping and visiting local markets
All of our cleaning products for linens and house items are all natural, minimizing chemical input into the environment as well as into you!
We shop local local local! From vendors to restaurants, Costa Rica is full of beautiful communities (as you will soon see) and we love supporting our local community.
In an effort to help with carbon offsetting as well as increasing the biodiversity of the area, we are proudly involved in reforestation efforts. This includes supporting local organizations, yearly planting of fruits trees, plants, flowers and edible ornamentals around the property.
No Air Conditioning.. We repeat, no AC….but WAIT! Trust us.. at Casa Galini you honestly don’t need it! Located at 1600 feet above sea level, the general climate is truthfully very comfortable. In the evenings you can enjoy a fresh mountain breeze simply by opening your windows. Trust us, we would not exaggerate this fact. The breeze and general cooler temperature is noticeable and perfect.
