How do I get to Casa Galini and what are the transportation options?

Getting to Casa Galini is actually quite straightforward, but like most driving in Costa Rica, it certainly has some things to be aware of. Once your booking is confirmed, we will send you detailed directions to the villa. Below is a breakdown of some options

Option 1 - Renting a Car

First and foremost you will 100% need a 4X4 vehicle. It is a must when driving into Costa Verde Estates and up that beautiful mountain. If you do not have a 4x4 vehicle, the security guard will now allow entry into the Estates.
In terms of the drive, from SJO Airport take Route 27 to Route 34 and pass through Jaco, Quepos and Dominical as you drive along the coastal highway (Costanera). This drive is approximately 3 hours. There are shops and food available in towns along the way.
The drive has plenty of epic views so you can enjoy your journey to the villa as you coast along. We can provide more detailed directions upon booking confirmation.
It is suggested to try and arrive at the villa during the day for optimal vision when navigating up the mountain to Casa Galini. Checkpoints are visible day or night and the concierge can connect with you should any problems arise. We just suggest you get a good view during the day and get your bearings so your next drive up the mountain can be much more familiar.

Option 2 - Take a Jumper Flight

This particular route to Casa Galini is not only quick, it is an absolute adventure to say the least. Fly on a small twin propeller aircraft from SJO to Quepos Airport with Sansa Airline. The views are stunning and the flight itself takes just about 25 minutes. The drive then from this airport to Casa Galini takes under an hour making this the fastest route to Casa Galini from SJO. Pick up options from Quepos airpot are available through concierge.

Make sure to book your Sansa Airline tickets in advance and consult the airline’s baggage limitations.

Option 3 - Private Shuttle Service

Arrive completely stress free by having your very own private shuttle service to and from the airport. This can be coordinated with the help of Jackie, your concierge at Casa Galini.

- SJO to Costa Verde Estates = $ 300 USD (depending on # people)

- Quepos Airport to Costa Verde Estates - $100 USD (depending on # of people)

How close are groceries and shops?

We are located just 15 minutes away from the main coastal highway where there is quick and easy access to grocery stores, banks, salons, restaurants, bars, shops, and much more .

What kinds of food options are there?

The closest option is only 5 minutes away, halfway down the mountain called Jolly Rogers. It is a bar/restaurant that serves burgers, pizzas and chicken wings. For more variety and some healthier options for restaurants / takeout there are plenty available in either Dominical or Uvita, which are a short drive down the highway (15-20mins). You can find everything from sushi, tacos, vegan friendly, traditional Costa Rican, Italian and much more.  In terms of grocery stores, there are a few located in Uvita and Dominical. Dominical is a much smaller one with little selection, mostly your basics. In Uvita there is a big grocery store called BM where you can pretty much find anything you want. And finally in terms of farmers markets there are 5 different markets within a 20-40 mins distance from Casa Galini. You can literally go to a new one everyday.

Uvita is slightly larger than Dominical and much more spread out. It also has a quaint surfer town vibe and is very family friendly. It has multiple beach accesses, local kids park and skate park, shops, restaurants, yoga studios as well as a busier main strip located along the road as you walk your way to the Ballena National Park.
